Students are gradually introduced to the spirit, curriculum and implementation of the IB DP programme while acquiring valuable experience.<\/p>\n<p>By focusing on improving their study habits and general academic performance, students develop a range of academic skills such as critical thinking, written expression and research on the internet which will prove to be indispensable for their success in the IB DP programme.[\/vc_column_text][vc_tta_tabs active_section=&#8221;1&#8243; no_fill_content_area=&#8221;true&#8221;][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Pre-IB DP&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1462444008447-d101dc67-873d&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The courses are taught by experienced IB DP teachers.<\/p>\n<p>Students attend the programme in the afternoon &#8220;SMART by Distance&#8221; zone (17:30 &#8211; 19:00, online).<\/p>\n<p>Students who attend the Pre-IB DP are under no obligation to attend the IB DP programme.<\/p>\n<p>Students and their parents have\u00a0 the opportunity to attend university presentations\u00a0 by admission officers visiting our school.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Objectives&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1462444008505-038cfc93-3187&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Familiarises students with subjects or material not taught in Year 10 \/ MYP 5 (Psychology, Literature, Biology, Visual Arts, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>It provides the students with the required knowledge\u00a0 regarding the requirements of the IB Diploma Programme.<\/li>\n<li>Introduces students to academic subjects delivered in English.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarises students with IBDP terminology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On completion of the Pre-IB DP, students have acquired all the\u00a0 experience and the knowledge to make an informed decision whether they will attend the IB DP programme.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Courses&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;Courses&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Pre-IB students can attend courses in the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>English Language &amp; Literature<\/li>\n<li>Modern Greek<\/li>\n<li>English B, German B, French B &amp; Spanish Ab initio<\/li>\n<li>History<\/li>\n<li>Global politics<\/li>\n<li>Economics<\/li>\n<li>Psychology<\/li>\n<li>Business &amp; Management<\/li>\n<li>Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Physics<\/li>\n<li>Biology<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics<\/li>\n<li>Visual Arts<\/li>\n<li>Theatre<\/li>\n<li>Music<\/li>\n<li>Computer Science<\/li>\n<li>Theory of Knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The students have the opportunity to participate in CAS activities and workshops (Academic etiquette, Profile building, Time management, Choosing the right univeristy).<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Pre-IB Pre-requisites&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;pre-ib-pre-requisites&#8221;][vc_column_text]For CGS students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Middle School marks<\/li>\n<li>Level of English<\/li>\n<li>Test in General knowledge-Critical thinking<\/li>\n<li>Interview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For non-CGS students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diagnostic test<\/li>\n<li>Middle School marks<\/li>\n<li>Level of English<\/li>\n<li>Interview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;PTA Meetings&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;pta-meetings&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Further infomartion for parents<\/p>\n<p>Pre-IB DP co-ordinator is Anna Probana email: <a href=\"mailto:preib@cgs.edu.gr\">preib@cgs.edu.gr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Summer courses&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;Summer-courses-ib-dp&#8221;][vc_column_text]Every year, and immediately after the end of the academic year, the CGS IB Diploma Programme organises intensive summer courses for students who wish to begin the IB the following academic year. They have two main aims:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 To provide students with the prerequisite knowledge for the IB and broaden every student\u2019s knowledge so that they commence the IB programme suitably prepared.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 To provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills regarding the demands of the internal assessment of the IB programme (assignments, extended essay, theory of knowledge, workshops, etc).<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays it has become common practice among IB schools to offer summer course as they contribute to the successful integration of pupils into the IB programme, its mentality and philosophy, and supports pupils who have already completed the first year of the IB.<\/p>\n<p>The courses are taught by experienced IB teachers from all over the world and our school. Many of the teachers are IBO examiners.<\/p>\n<p>The summer courses are open to students attending our school and students from all over the world.
