Distinguished Participation of CGS Students in the ICYD
(International Competition for Young Debaters )
Five students from CGS (Costeas‑Geitonas School) High and Middle School participated in the prestigious ICYD, the national selection session of the largest BP format junior debating competition in the world on 14 February ,hosted by Geitonas School.
The participating students were:
Lambros Fouyas, Alexandros Hargitt, Pavlos Athanasiadis ,Panagiota Panteliadou and Sevi Zafti.
Throughout the competition, the students demonstrated remarkable intellectual maturity, eloquence of expression, and a commendable spirit of academic inquiry. Engaging in demanding rounds of analysis, argumentation, and critical reasoning, they upheld the values of scholarly excellence and collaborative learning that define the CGS educational ethos.
Particularly noteworthy was the performance of the team consisting of Panagiota Panteliadou and Sevi Zafti, who advanced to the semi-final round, distinguishing themselves among competitors from numerous schools. Their achievement reflects not only individual dedication and preparation, but also the school’s commitment to cultivating articulate, confident, and internationally minded learners.
The CGS community warmly congratulates all five participants for their effort, perseverance, and exemplary conduct. Their participation stands as an inspiring reminder that academic competitions are not merely arenas of assessment, but platforms for dialogue, curiosity, and the exchange of ideas across cultures.
