The Global Issues Network (GIN) club and the Model United Nations (MUN) club are joining forces against the water crisis!

In 2014, the United Nations established access to clean, drinking water as a human right. However, much of the world’s population is deprived of this right as they live in extremely unhealthy conditions. UNICEF estimates that 1 in 5 children under 5 die each day from diseases related to the lack of safe water. It is estimated that women and girls are disproportionately affected by water scarcity as they are responsible for locating and collecting it. The lack of clean water even affects children’s right to education as their frail health and lack of personal hygiene do not allow them to go to school.

Continuing its social action, the Global Issues Network (GIN) club wants to help solve the problem of the water crisis in Africa. The GIN group will be present at the MUN conference on 8, 9 and 10 December to raise money for the purchase and installation of a water tank which will serve the daily needs of the residents of Kibiku village in Kenya. This project will ensure decent living conditions in an entire community and will bring a smile to the faces of many children.

Access to clean, drinking water is a fundamental human right; it should not be a privilege. Let’s all become part of the solution!
