Chris Moustakis and Maria Meri selected as Students Officers for THIMUN Conference

CGS will be represented at this year’s The Hague International Model UN Online Conference by two students who have been selected to serve as Student Officers. (Published 16th November)

Our IB Diploma Year 1 student Chris Moustakis will serve as a Deputy President in the Security Council.  This committee is the most powerful UN principal organ and deals with the most critical global topics, such as wars and crises. This year’s committee will address the following issues:

  • The question of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal
  • The situation in Libya
  • The situation in Yemen

Our Lyceum student Maria Meri has been selected to serve as a Deputy President of the Economic and Social Council, which is one of the principal UN organs and deals with socioeconomic issues, emphasizing the underlying connection between social and economic problems. The three issues to be addressed by the committee are:

  • Measures to counter unemployment, especially female unemployment
  • Developing a minimum welfare state in all countries
  • Measures to reduce non-biodegradable waste

The whole of the CGS community would like to wish you all its best for the conference to be held online in January, 2021.
