CGS STEM Challenge Day
The CGS STEM Challenge Day is an event organized by CGS aiming to bring IB PYP students closer to the applications of STEM at CGS.
IB PYP students, Smart Robotics participants, ICT and Design & Technology teachers have the opportunity to guide visitors through an interactive STEM exhibition.
At this event, each student visitor, accompanied by a parent, encounters different STEM challenges. With the help of the 6th grade students and Smart Robotics students, the younger student-visitors are invited to:
- complete the STEM challenges within the allotted time
- visit two Robotics exhibitions
- watch a Sumo Robotics Racing match

SUMO
The CGS STEM Challenge Day hosts the SUMO Robotics Championship.
SUMO is a Japanese traditional form of wrestling. The aim of a SUMO wrestler is to push his opponent out of a circular ring or force him to touch the ground with any part of his body other than the soles of his feet.
The sport has been transformed and has become an institution of educational robotics, as a contest of strength and strategy.
The robotic SUMO is an extremely interesting and unique educational tool for children, in the context of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) educational philosophy.
