German Language

In Junior High school, students continue learning German through the MYP programme while being offered the opportunity to participate in language proficiency exams. A prerequisite for this is their enrolment in the exam preparation courses offered by the Foreign Language Club.

In particular, in grade 7 (MYP Year 2), students attending the exam preparation classes are offered the opportunity to sit the Goethe Zertifikat A2.

In grade 8 (MYP year 3) students commence their preparation for the B1 certificate, which is subsequently completed in grade 9 (MYP Year 4), during which students may take the Goethe Zertifikat B1 exam.

In grade 10 (MYP Year 5) students can continue with their studies in German at the B2 level by utilising the two hours of instruction provided to them in the daily programme. Moreover, those who choose to attend the optional afternoon class are offered the opportunity to sit the examinations for the Goethe Zetrifikat B2.

The language level attained at the end of grade 10 (MYP Year 5) enables students attending the IB DP programme to opt for German B either at Standard Level or at Higher Level.

Irrespective of their level, students can also choose German (German Ab Initio) in the IB DP programme.
