In Junior High school, students continue learning French through the MYP programme while being offered the opportunity to participate in language proficiency exams. A prerequisite for this is their enrolment in the exam preparation courses offered by the Foreign Language Club.
In particular, in grade 7 (MYP Year 2) students attending the exam preparation classes have the opportunity to sit the DELF A2 exam.
In grade 8 (MYP Year 3) students are offered the opportunity to sit the DELF B1 exam and in grade 9 (MYP Year 4) the DELF B2 exam. Our aim is for students finishing High School to have acquired basic language acquisition skills in French and to have obtained the DELF B2 certificate which allows students to be admitted to most francophone universities without any further language examinations.
In grade 10 (MYP Year 5) students can maintain contact with French by utilising a two-hour session offered in the daily programme.
The language level attained at the end of grade 10 (MYP Year 5) enables students attending the IB DP programme to choose French B either at Niveau Moyen (basic level) or at Niveau supérieur (high level).
Irrespective of their level, students can also opt for French (French Ab Initio) in the IB DP programme.
