CGS School was the first school in Greece to offer the IB Primary Years Programme at the Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Primary level for children between the ages of 3 to 12.
The programme is based on the Interdisciplinary Integrated Studies Framework and the National Curriculum as outlined by the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs and the International Baccalaureate Organisation, where Greek is the language of instruction but with a particular emphasis on the English language.
The programme addresses the needs of students between 3 and 12 years of age and focuses on holistic development. It is interdisciplinary in its approach, taught in Greek and encompasses a strong element of research. Its main aim is that students develop the skills and abilities that will help them connect their classroom experiences to the outside world.
The International Baccalaureate Organisation has authorized 2,503 schools in more than 130 countries around the world to offer the PYP to date. The programme includes comprehensive curricula, assessment tools, professional training, electronic communication networks, supervisory and teaching materials.
As of May 2007, CGS School has been a PYP Candidate School and since November 2011 it is an authorized IB PYP World School.
