In November 2011, CGS became the first IB School in Greece to receive authorisation to implement, in Greek, the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Kindergarten, Pre-Nursery School, Nursery School & Primary School students and is based on the curriculum of the Greek Ministry of Education, Research & Religious Affairs.
It is a new, first-rate transdisciplinary curriculum based on inquiry, which stimulates a willingness to learn, highlights and develops the gifts and talents of our students, creates healthy learning habits and promotes positive attitudes.
Notwithstanding the fact that it is taught in Greek, the PYP pays particular attention to the teaching of English, which plays an important role in the implementation of the PYP. The PYP links classroom experiences with the very life and reality that surrounds students outside the classroom. Besides the high academic level, considerable emphasis is placed on the ideas of global perception and the creation of responsible citizens.
The content of the PYP is enriched with the concepts, knowledge, skills and attitudes that a pupil must acquire and develop in order to join and act in tomorrow’s society.
