We are most proud to announce IB DP Year 2 student Dimitri Hargitt has been named a finalist in the 2026 US National Merit Scholarship competition. Selected from among more than1.3 million students who applied in the fall, the NMS program is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious academic honors in the US, a distinction reflecting Dimitri’s outstanding scholarly achievements and commitment to excellence.
To be eligible, students must be US citizens with an extraordinary academic profile followed by the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) whose score helps the NMS program identify top students globally. Advancing to Finalist stage, however, requires exceptional academic performance over time, confirmed SAT results (Dimitris achieved a near perfect score!), an insightful personal essay and a strong school recommendation.
